ITANAGAR, Nov 19: Giving a major boost to the peace building process in insurgency affected Changlang district, the 4th Assam Rifles secured the surrender of two hardcore NSCN (K) cadres namely SS Pvt Limtu Mossang and SS Cpl Nenpong Harap on 10th of this month. The success was achieved due to the tireless and pain taking efforts of a joint task group consisting of Assam Rifles personnel and Arunachal Pradesh Police. The cadres surrendered along with one 7.65mm Pistol, three lives rounds, one .22mm Pistol and four live rounds. The surrender took place in presence of Assam Rifles officials, SP and other civil dignitaries of Changlang District.
West Siang ATMA team takes part in NE agri expo
ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The agriculture technology management agency (ATMA) of West Siang district participated in the 3rd North East Region Agri Expo held at Dimapur, from 15th to 17th November. Altogether 11 farmers from each block of the district including two officers namely J. Jini, ADO (ATMA) and N. Loya, ADO (APMC) participated in the Agri Expo.

9 students injured
ITANAGAR, Nov 19: At least nine students injured, four of them seriously, in a road accident near Yazali today. The road accident occurred when the vehicle in which a group of Adi students from Shillong was travelling on their way to Ziro from Itanagar to attend the ongoing AAPSU conference.
Four seriously injured students were admitted to R K Mission Hospital and one of students, who received grievous injuries was reportedly referred to Dibrugarh hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Bosiram Siram visited the injured at RKMH and lauded the doctors and subordinate staff for prompt action. Details are awaited.
Hunting banned
ITANAGAR, Nov 19: Additional Deputy Commissioner Yachuli issued a prohibitory order against the hunting of any kinds of wild animals and birds within the area of Dodo village of Yazali circle. Checking drive against unregistered vehicles
ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The Lohit district transport office along with police has decided to launch a massive checking drive against the unregistered vehicles in Lohit district very shortly. It is said that unregistered vehicles would be seized instantly if the owners and drivers fail to produce documents. However the authority did not mention the particular date for checking drive. DTO Tezu appealed to the vehicle owners to register their vehicles within a week to avoid the seizure.

Young boy from Seppa turns novelist

MOGA (PUNJAB) Nov 19: Much to the delight of people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly of East Kameng district, a young B.Tech student namely Banta Natung from remote Veo village in Seppa under Pijeraing circle has turned into a novelist at the tender age of 19. His debut novel titled “Memoir of a Boy” was published by a Mumbai based publishing house Leadstart.
The book was released in a glittering ceremony held at Indo Soviet Friendship College of Pharmacy Moga in Punjab on Sunday by Dr. Joram Beda, Additional District Magistrate cum Joint Commissioner Moga Municipal Corporation in presence of Praveen Garg, Chairman of Indo Soviet Friendship College of Pharmacy who is also renowned entrepreneur of Punjab. While releasing the book, Dr Beda congratulated the young writer and lauded his writing skills and his command over language. He also suggested students to follow his example to devote their energy in constructive ventures in life.
Young author Banta Natung is a B Tech student of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jallandhar in Punjab. He is the only son of Blay Natung and Mema Natung. He did schooling from St. Joseph School, Seppa and Govt. Higher Secondary School, Naharlagun. As a child he did also work as child artists in a documentary film “Sangu Lamta”. He won numerous awards in writing essays, poems, Science Project Presentation, Exhibition at District, State and National Level.
Natung debut novel ‘Memoirs of a Boy’ is a touching story of a simple village teenager from a small town who comes to the city, to complete his high school and with hopes to find his girl friend. However, that is not an easy task. Yet, he believes that she is waiting for him too. In the city he starts partying, flirting with girls, drinking; all this becomes a habit with him. Congress Rally at Dapo highlights Govt achievements
DAPORIJO, Nov 19: A huge crowd from all over Upper Subansiri district gathered at the Rijo Ground, Daporijo to attend the Congress Rally today.
Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee and Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi, while addressing the rally, said that great success could be achieved if we all work together in a united manner. Reminding all that the party was bigger than an individual, he exhorted all the leaders to work for the benefit of all without seeing the constituency boundaries. Stating that being the ruling party in the state, it was the responsibility of the leaders to look after the people and concentrate on the development of the state. The Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, in his address, highlighted the achievements of his government and about the programs like Chief Minister’s Agriculture Mechanization program, Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme, Chief Minister’s Livelihood Mission Schools, CM’s Disability Pension Scheme, and many more.
Nabam Tuki encouraged the Congress leaders of the district to work for the benefit of the masses, especially the helpless and the needy. He spoke on the need to guide the youth towards a good path and discouraged formation of numerous associations and organizations.

ITANAGAR, Nov 19: Takit Darang, former Executive Announcer of All India Radio (AIR), Pasighat passed away at his residence at Mirbuk, Pasighat today morning after prolonged illness.
Darang (66), is survived by his wife, two daughters, three sons and many grand children.
An eminent broadcaster and radio programmer, Darang was instrumental in popularizing the farm and home section program, popularly known as Bosi Didum which was named by him. Bosi Didum is still one of the most popular radio programs of AIR Pasighat.
He did not hesitate to participate in any kind of radio program format apart from taking interviews, visiting to far flung areas for radio programs and participating in radio dramas.
Late Takit Darang was born on Oct 1, 1946 at Komsing village under East Siang district to late Tagup Darang and late Yasin Darang. After doing his graduation from JN College Pasighat, he joined AIR, Pasighat as an announcer on December 1, 1966 and recorded many folk songs of Adis such as Delong, Baari, Ponung etc.
He has also contributed in promoting Adi language by serving as the vice-
He retired from active radio service as a broadcaster on September 30, 2006.
His last rite would be performed at his Mirbuk residence tomorrow afternoon.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Bosiram Siram has expressed grief and sorrow over death of Darang.
“In his death, the society has lost a sincere and dedicated person, who always worked and thought for the society. The vacuum created by his death will be difficult to fill, Siram said in a condolence message.
Siram conveyed deep sense of condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
The AIR Pasighat family has expressed its sadness on the demise of Darang and offered prayers for the departed soul.
The Jering Matkir Society (JMS) expressed deep shock over the demise of its founder general secretary late Takit Darang.
The JMS in a condolence message said: “Late Darang’s contribution towards the society will be immensely remembered and we will follow his path to make the society better. “
The society prayed to almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan reaches remote Takshing
ITANAGAR, Nov 19: An official team headed by Secretary, PHE&WS Tomi Ete reached Takshing, one of the remotest circles of Upper Subansiri district, after four day’s foot march on the evening of November 15 covering more than 38 km.
The main objective of the team’s tour was to create awareness among the villagers on Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA).
The team organized an awareness camp the next day, where villagers were made aware of the objective NBA and the importance of sanitation and its impact on daily life.
Addressing the gathering, Ete dwelt at length on sanitation and sustainable management of drinking water supply. He advised the gathering to adopt healthy living by incorporating sanitary practices into their lives.
M Kino, AE, PHESD, Nacho highlighted the relationship between health and hygiene, present scenario of sanitation in rural areas and scope of improvement. The simple steps for construction of sanitary toilet, a very important component of the Sanitation Campaign were explained and demonstrated by R C Sharma, JE PHE Taliha.
Takshing CO Takar Rava appealed the villagers to follow the sanitary practices explained by Ete to make the area healthy and prosperous. The PRI members and the public highly appreciated the efforts taken by the team.

ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The Chairperson of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Gumri Ringu attended the Regional Conference on Empowerment of Women “An instrument for poverty Alleviation” organised by the National Commission for Women (NCW) New Delhi, in collaboration with Meghalaya State Resource Centre for Women and Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya on 16th of this month, at Pinewood Hotel, Shillong.

ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The Chairman and Managing Director of NEEPCO Ltd has assured the representatives of Youth Association of Ross Panchayat, Dakte Hoj Panchayat Youth Welfare Association and Papum Pare Unemployed Engineers Association that authenticity of the documents produced by all the 35 candidates, who have been called for interview for appointment in Pare HEP, would be verified and those who are found to have not possessed Land Affected Certificate would be rejected.
The CMD gave this assurance to the representatives of the three organizations, in a meeting at Shillong on November 16.
The representatives of the three organizations demanded the CMD to either verify the authenticity of the documents of all the 35 candidates, including the 26 candidates, who claimed to be the land affected job contract/89 Days employees or cancel their candidature as most of the candidates called for the interview were not from the land affected persons of PareHEP.
The organization trio further insisted on verification of all the candidates’ EPIC, PRC (of Dakto Hoj, Jhampa, Soppo, Lekhi, Rose) and Land Donor Certificate from the appropriate District Authority.
“The management is not in a position to redress the various other demands raised by different association/committees on recruitment. But the management would approach the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister to raise their demands under one umbrella,” the CMD said, adding that necessary action/decision would be taken after further discussion with the chief minister.

Sepak Takraw coaching camp ends
ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The closing ceremony of Sepak Takraw coaching camp was organized today at Namsai town. The ceremony was graced by Finance, Planning and PWD Minister Chowna Mein who is the Chief Patron of the Arunachal Pradesh Sepak Takraw Association.
The Coaching Camp was organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Sepak Takraw Association (APSTA) from 14th November onwards. Five boys and five girls were selected to participate in the National Championship Competition at Hyderabad scheduled on 23rd of this month. Sepak Takraw is an upcoming sport in India which is very popular in the South East Asian Countries.
Chau Suvat Mowke General Secretary APSTA lauded the efforts of Minister Chowna Mein in being instrumental for the successful conduct of the coaching camp twice at Namsai, the first camp was organized last year.

Dear Editor,
Heartbeats of all the conscious denizens are racing at an abnormal phase anxiously awaiting as to what kind of leaders are we going to witness this time after AAPSU election ! The highest enterprise of the new day is to choose a leader with benign charisma and an undying sacrificial attitude towards the society to cleanse, to reconsider, to restore, to correct the evil without impairing the good.
The sole motto of the AAPSU as a student body was to attend the crisis of the student
group but in Arunachal Pradesh with no opposition party, the AAPSU body stretched
its wings to cross-
The need of the hour is to open up our minds and souls and look around the piles of miseries we are loaded with on our tender shoulders gifted by our predecessors. While economic liberalization is being witnessed in India since 1991, Arunachal, despite its bountiful natural resources like coal, hydro power and flora and fauna etc, took a back seat. Here we should keep in mind that technically a state or a nation cannot be adjudged as developed or underdeveloped by its resources only. If that were so, today Russia would have been the richest country in the world with its resources like oil, gas, diamonds, gold, silver etc. For the development to happen the Govt needs to have strategic plans and policies to carry forward its aims and objectives. Look at Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan and Singapore; without having any vital resources, they have achieved their goals.
Here appears the task of the AAPSU to clasp our state from deterioration and be a candlelight. The foremost priority is not for constitutional or political rights but for economic freedom. The great nations like England and America started with industrial revolution but in our country, particularly in our state, it started the other way and at a very later phase, with political revolution, with demands for rights, rather than with the concept of improved work culture with responsibility. Real development could be achieved when both the followers and the leaders go hand in hand, especially the youths, with proper channelizing of the youth power guided by the beacon lights (AAPSU).
Here one should remember that discipline is the key word for the youths today, without which nothing in life can be achieved and to change the society one needs to analyze oneself first before pointing fingers at others. Change should come from within, not forcefully. Unless we change our mentality we can develop nothing.

An appeal for Mathematics teacher
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to request the director of secondary education to post Mathematics teacher to Liromoba Higher Secondary School at the earliest.
The Govt Higher Secondary School, which was established in 2009, is running without Mathematic subject teacher in spite of our repeated representations for the same. As a result, most of the students left the school and there is little progress in academic activities.

We are grateful to Chief Minister Nabam Tuki for timely arrangement of ration sorties for Hayuliang, Hawai, Changlagam and Walong. It is a great help for the people who were in starvation due to road block and landslide caused by heavy rainfall in Anjaw district recently.

Good initiatives

This is in reference to the news item published in your esteemed newspaper on 17th Nov 2012 regarding various problems and demands placed by CoSAAP to CM Nabam Tuki. Personally, I appreciate the initiative taken by CoSAAP for wellbeing of Government employees of Arunachal Pradesh. Govt. employee have been deprived of many legitimate benefits under 6th CPC.
Further, expressing full faith and trust upon Nabam Tuki led Govt., I appeal to implement 6th CPC recommendations and enhancement retirement age of employees from 58 to 60 years in order to boost up the morals of govt.employees as they are the key to bring better and good governance in the state. I hope CoSAAP will continue its efforts in near future also for the betterment of state Govt. employees. Through this column I would also like to appeal the state govt. employees to join hands and support CoSAAP. Jai Hind !

Traffic accidents kill 1.3 million every year
India witnessed one road accident every minute in 2011 which claimed one life every 3.7 minutes, one of the highest in the world.
According to the latest Road Transport ministry report, a total of 4.97 lakh road accident was reported in 2011. Though compared to 2010, the accidents have gone down by 1,945, the number of deaths at 1,42,485 has increased by over 7,000.
Driver’s fault accounted for a whopping 77.5% of the total road accidents while pedestrian and cyclist’s fault accounted for a mere 3.7% and defect in road condition just 1.5%.
Among the states, Maharashtra topped the list with the highest number of road accidents at 68,438 followed by Tamil Nadu (65,873), Madhya Pradesh (49,406), Karnataka (44,731) and Andhra Pradesh (44,165).
Between 2001 and 2011, while road accidents has increased by 2.1% , the number of fatalities has increased by 5.5 %. In comparison, during this period, the number of registered vehicles increased by 9.9%.
